See you Oct. 24th
There are moments in independent creative work where an idea stops feeling like a small local event and starts becoming something larger.
Over the past several months, Song of Sunset has quietly been evolving behind the scenes into a much bigger vision — one centered around regional cultural tourism, immersive storytelling, live music, and the power of gathering people together in real spaces.
Today I’m excited to officially announce:
SONG OF SUNSET PRESENTS: UNDERGROUND
Saturday, October 24, 2026
Silver Moon Brewing — Bend, Oregon
UNDERGROUND will be a one-night cinematic and live music gathering exploring buried history, analog culture, Pacific Northwest mythology, independent film, and community connection.
And for the first time, Song of Sunset is expanding beyond a traditional screening format into a fully immersive regional cultural experience designed to attract travelers from across the Pacific Northwest.
Supported by the Bend Cultural Tourism Fund
I’m honored to share that the event has officially received support through the Bend Cultural Tourism Fund to help market the experience outside Central Oregon and attract visitors from cities like Portland, Eugene, and Seattle during Bend’s fall shoulder season.
That support helped spark a larger realization:
This event needed to become more than separate screenings at different venues. It needed to become a destination experience.
One Venue. One Gathering. One Underground Experience.
After extensive planning and research into audience travel patterns, hotel partnerships, event timing, and tourism strategy, the concept has evolved into a single immersive Saturday experience hosted entirely at Silver Moon Brewing.
The goal is simple:
Give people time to arrive in Bend, settle in, experience something unforgettable together, and safely travel home the following day.
The event will combine:
Independent documentary screenings
Live music performances
Conversation sessions
Vinyl-inspired social experiences
Pacific Northwest storytelling
Community gathering
into one flowing all-day and evening experience.
Featured Short Films
The first featured film, already completed, is: Cosmic Heirloom the second is in the magic space.
Cosmic Heirloom: Buried 400 Years
A cinematic exploration of the buried and suppressed history of psilocybin from the Spanish conquest to modern scientific rediscovery.
The second film currently entering production is:
Unearthed Analog
A short documentary exploring legendary Pacific Northwest recording culture, analog mythology, underground creativity, and the stories hidden inside iconic studio spaces.
Together, the films form the thematic backbone of UNDERGROUND:
stories, music, histories, and communities that survived beneath the surface long enough to reemerge.
Community + Inclusivity
Song of Sunset is also committed to building an inclusive cultural experience featuring diverse voices and artists throughout the Pacific Northwest.
As part of the event’s ongoing outreach efforts, we are actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with Native American and Hispanic artists and musicians while creating meaningful spaces for conversation, storytelling, and shared creative experiences.
In support of youth mental health and creativity in Bend, 5% of event proceeds will be donated to HÚE: Hearts Unknown, a Bend-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit creating safe creative spaces and mental health touchpoints for local youth.
The Bigger Vision
UNDERGROUND
It’s an experiment in rebuilding cultural gathering spaces around film, music, atmosphere, conversation, and shared physical experience at a time when so much of modern life feels increasingly isolated and digital.
The hope is that this becomes an annual Pacific Northwest cultural gathering that continues bringing travelers, artists, filmmakers, musicians, and curious minds together in Bend every fall.
More announcements, artist lineups, hotel partnerships, sponsors, and ticket information will be released in the months ahead.
