ABOUT COSMIC HEIRLOOM

For centuries, psilocybin mushrooms were woven into ceremony, medicine, and community across cultures worldwide — until colonial-era prohibition drove that history underground. Cosmic Heirloom: Buried 400 Years traces how a substance once treated as sacred came to be erased from public memory, and why that erasure still shapes the conversation today.

Featuring David Moss, the documentary follows a personal and historical investigation into psilocybin’s suppressed past, connecting centuries-old traditions to the modern scientific rediscovery now unfolding in research labs and clinical trials. The film was named an Award Finalist at the 2026 Oregon Short Film Festival.

See it the way it was meant to be experienced — on the big screen during Song of Sunset: UNDERGROUND, followed by a live conversation presented by Oregon Film. It’s one part of a full evening of original short films, live music, and community storytelling in Bend, Oregon.
