The live premiere format proved its worth in a big way. Through ticket sales alone, we fully covered the venue rental — a major milestone for a brand-new event. Reaching that point brought a huge sense of relief; I could finally breathe a little easier knowing we hit that watermark.
There’s absolutely no doubt that the support of local businesses and community partners played a critical role in reaching that goal, enabling us to meet both the venue and advertising expenses. Your belief in this vision helped transform an idea into a shared experience.
Why It Matters
Song of Sunset blends documentary filmmaking with live performance, celebrating the power of Oregon’s small stages and the songwriters who bring them to life. The premiere at Volcanic Theater Pub wasn’t just a screening — it was proof that this format works. It showed that storytelling and live music, presented together, can draw audiences, sustain itself financially, and create a truly immersive cultural experience.
What’s Next
Now that the show is behind us, I’m packaging the project for its next phase. With both a completed film and a successful live event proof of concept, I’m in a stronger position to secure future funding through crowdfunding and investors. Going forward, we’ll be building out performance budgets and expanding this unique format to reach more communities.
For 2026, I’m preparing two new episodes — one in the spring and one in the fall. In the meantime, keep an eye out for pop-up screenings around town as I continue fundraising and begin the journey toward the next chapters. I’m excited to dive back into the magic of interviewing and listening to more incredible artists whose stories deserve to be preserved and shared.
