First Honor

I’m excited to share a few important updates as Song of Sunset begins its next chapter:

First Festival Honor!
We’ve officially earned our first recognition — Song of Sunset is an Official Selection in the New York Movie Awards under the Short Documentary category! It’s a huge milestone and an uplifting start to our festival journey. The film has been submitted to more than 10 other festivals, most of them right here in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m hopeful we’ll have more announcements to share soon.

October 8th Screening = Pilot + Season Launch
I’m positioning the October 8th screening at Volcanic Theatre Pub not just as a one-time event, but as the pilot launch for a full episodic web/TV series. I’ll be using the short film to pursue grant opportunities and sponsorships that can help fund a dedicated production budget — including hiring a crew and renting the gear we need to take things to the next level.

I'm also dedicating the rest of the summer to help sell out the premiere / Songwriter Circle and to begin shaping a production plan that will kick off after the launch. While I won’t be conducting any new interviews for a while, you might spot me in the audience at cast performances, quietly capturing a few fly-on-the-wall moments for future use. With good fortune grants will be won and sponsorships will be earned to help get the right production team and gear on set and a stronger budget for music syncing.

New Sunset Stories: Munch & Music
I’m also excited to share that we’re expanding the storytelling arc to include Munch and Music, the beloved summer concert series in Bend. Exploring the history, impact, and spirit of this iconic event feels like a natural extension of our project — and it ties beautifully into the larger theme of music and memory at sunset.

Thank you again for being part of this journey. Your support, your stories, and your music continue to shape what Song of Sunset is becoming — and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
