A Bend-Made Music Film Turns Up the Volume and Reverb in Austin & Nashville

A story rooted in Seattle’s music history, produced here in Bend, is finding its way into two cities with legendary musical histories of their own.

I’m excited to share that Salvaged Reverb: Inside the Legendary Robert Lang Studios has been named a Semi-Finalist in the Nashville Independent Film Festival’s October edition. This marks the second festival to bring the documentary into award consideration, following Austin Short Film Festival.

For a film exploring the history and wonders of Robert Lang Studios, the connection feels especially meaningful. Austin and Nashville are places where music shapes the identity of the city. Having this story earn recognition in both is an exciting step in sharing a Seattle music legend with a wider audience.

Walking Into the Unknown

Making Salvaged Reverb was an experience of discovery. We arrived ready to listen, follow Robert’s lead and see where the studio’s stories would take us.

“It’s been an amazing journey so far with my production team and with the Robert Lang family. This film is authentic as it gets. We mic’ed ourselves up, pressed record and entered into the studio with no idea what was ahead. The audience learns in real time along with me as we went on our tour.”

That shared discovery is at the heart of the film. My hope is that audiences feel like they’re walking through the studio with us, experiencing its history, personality and surprises as they unfold.

What the Nashville Recognition Means

The festival’s internal committee has reviewed the film and selected it as a Semi-Finalist. It is now under consideration for the second round.

According to the festival coordinators, films advancing to that round will be recognized as the month’s winners. Results are expected by November 17. We’re grateful for the recognition so far and excited to see what comes next.

See It in Bend This Saturday

You can experience Salvaged Reverb this Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Song of Sunset: Underground at Silver Moon Brewing in Bend.

We’ll screen the documentary alongside our other award-winning short films as part of an evening of live music, film and conversation. I’m looking forward to sharing this story with our hometown audience and celebrating the people who helped bring it to the screen.

Song of Sunset is a project funded in part by the Bend Cultural Tourism Fund through Visit Bend.
